Take your kids on the Iowa version of ‘The Polar Express’

All aboard the Santa Express! Iowa’s version of the Polar Express is getting ready to kick off the 2022 holiday season!

Every year the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad runs a series of holiday train rides called the Santa Express. The rides are very popular and have become a tradition for families in the state of Iowa. The official website reads:

“…enjoy an hour to an hour and 15 minutes ride from the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad depot to the North Pole (and back). Along the way, hear the story of Santa’s Scenic Valley Ride and take part in other fun family activities.”

This year’s Santa Express runs from November 25 through December 18 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The only available time on Friday is 6pm, but there are rides at 10:30am, 1pm, 3:30pm and 6pm on Saturdays and 10:30am, 1pm, and 3:30pm on Sundays. It is recommended to arrive 45 minutes to an hour before your reservation time.

To take a ride on the 2022 Santa Express, Classic Coach Class tickets are $25 and First Class Coach tickets are $50. First Class Coach tickets include a commemorative ceramic mug, larger sleigh bells for each passenger, and the cabin will be continuously heated, while the coach is preheated before boarding. Tickets are required for all guests age two and older, and a parent or guardian must be present. You can buy yours on the official website HERE.
