MONTCLAIR, NJ – For nearly 15 years, the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) Montclair has been offering French and Francophile community classes for children, teens, and adults. And next year they’ll add preschoolers to the list.
Earlier this week, the organization announced plans to open their FIAF Preschool: Montclair in Fall 2023. According to the FIAF:
“Since 2017, FIAF Montclair has been serving families with toddlers with its à petits pas Excellence program, which offers half-day or full-day French immersion classes to a limited number of preschoolers. Due to increasing demand from parents, it was decided today to expand FIAF Montclair with a pre-school program.”
The kindergarten is open from September to June and welcomes children of all language ability levels and backgrounds. Registration is open to children ages 2 ½ to 4 years old and begins December 7. The Kindergarten offers two kindergarten classes, limited to 15 children per class, per year. There is a full day preschool class, from 8:30am to 2:30pm, and a half day class, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Extended care is also available until 6pm
Need more motivation? According to the FIAF:
“The FIAF Preschool: Montclair is modeled on the success of the FIAF Preschool: Manhattan which has been in operation since 2012. Taught entirely in French for a fully immersive language experience, FIAF Preschool combines the best of French and American teaching methods within a rich, multicultural environment. Created specifically for toddlers with or without previous exposure to French, the FIAF Preschool provides children with all the proven benefits of bilingualism while preparing him/her with the educational, social and emotional tools necessary to succeed in any preschool. The FIAF Preschool: Montclair curriculum will gently introduce toddlers to reading, writing, numbers, science and art through a wide variety of activities.
“Montclair is proud of its schools and we hope that FIAF Preschool will be a great addition to this tradition of excellence in education,” said FIAF Montclair Director Marie-Catherine Glaser.
