MARION COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) — Loretta Brown founded Mary’s Angel Ministries two years ago in honor of her grandmother.
The foundation held its second annual senior health fair Thursday at the Marion County Activities Center, where citizens could enjoy a meal, check their blood pressure and participate in raffles.
Various stands were scattered throughout the center. Tables were cluttered with brochures and important information such as health insurance, affordable internet options and more.
Brown said she and her volunteers just want to be an “angel” to people who may need a helping hand and that their passion for helping the elderly drives them to do the work.
“So many of the seniors are on fixed incomes, they run out of stuff by the end of the month,” Brown said. “The need is great and they are being overlooked. What I do is try to get them their household products. We usually base things on donations or do raffles to raise money for the seniors.
Mary’s Angel Ministries fed more than 200 seniors.
