ANITGO, Wis. (WAOW) – An area county is trying to address their mental health needs.
The Langlade District teamed up with the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Northwoods to hold a community discussion about the area’s needs.
People said that long waiting lists, a lack of providers and a lack of understanding of the subject in general are all issues that need to be addressed.
Some said there is a serious lack of resources for teens and young people.
“There aren’t a lot of mental health resources for them, and I’m very concerned about that and it’s one of the reasons I moved to this community so I can be a resource for them.” said Melissa Glass, mental health coordinator for the Boys and Girls Club.
She said she hopes to have a plan in place to deal with the issues in the future, and is currently doing her best to help as many people as possible.
