Jio 5G service now available for free in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and all other NCR regions

Reliance Jio 5G is now available in the Delhi-NCR region, including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and 8 other Indian cities. Jio sends invitations on MyJio to connect to the available 5G network.

By Divya Bhati: Reliance Jio 5G is slowly reaching more Indian cities. The telecom operator is now rolling out its standalone (SA) 5G network connectivity across the Delhi-NCR region, including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and other key locations. Users living in these areas will receive the invitation to the Jio welcome offer in the My Jio app. The telecom operator has also launched a special 5G welcome offer for all its users, offering unlimited data at speeds of up to 1 Gbps at no extra cost.

Jio has already assured its users that their existing 4G SIM card will automatically support the 5G network once fifth-generation connectivity is available in their area. After receiving the invitation from the telecom, users will be able to connect to 5G by –

  • Go to Phone Settings > Cellular Network or similar option.
  • Then select the Jio SIM and select the ‘Preferred network type’ option.
  • Select 5G network.

Once the device is connected to 5G, you will see the 5G symbol on the network status bar.

Jio has already launched its 5G services titled True 5G in 8 Indian cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Varanasi, Nathdwara, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Now the network connectivity is further extended to 4 more cities including-

  • Gurugram
  • Noida
  • Ghaziabad
  • Faridabad

Notably, even if Jio 5G is available in your area and you are using a 5G-compatible smartphone, you may still be able to connect to the network. Not all mobile phone manufacturers have rolled out a 5G update for their devices. So, first confirm that your 5G phone has received the latest update from OGM. Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Nothing Phone, Samsung have already started releasing OTA updates to support Jio 5G. Apple has also rolled out iOS 16.2 to its beta users and will release iOS 16.2 in December.

Meanwhile, Jio has announced to launch 5G in key Indian cities by December 2022 and cover PAN Indian by 2023.
