Apple Could Develop Its Own Metaverse Platform – Metaverse Bitcoin News

Tech and communications giant Apple may be developing its own metaverse and has recently posted several job openings in the fields of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). One of the job postings explicitly calls for engineers experienced in developing a “mixed reality 3D world,” for the Technology Development Group, the company’s virtual reality division.

Apple may be working on its own ‘Horizon Worlds’-type metaverse iteration

Apple posted a series of job openings on Nov. 13 that could provide some perspective on the direction the company is taking with respect to metaverse technology.

According to Bloomberg, the company is currently looking for engineers to develop content for its incoming VR headset which, according to reports, will have high-definition screens, a set of more than 10 cameras, and will include Apple’s latest M2 chip. , one of the fastest in the industry.

One of the job postings explicitly calls for engineers with the knowledge to develop a mixed reality 3D world. This move could mean that Apple is already working on its own iteration of a metaverse platform like Meta’s Horizon Worlds, where users can meet, interact, and build their own world.

The job posting states that the chosen engineers will “build tools and frameworks to enable connected experiences in a 3D mixed reality world”.

Another job posting calls for engineers to build a 3D video platform with content suitable for experiencing through virtual reality hardware. Technavio’s report on the future of the metaverse in entertainment, released on November 11, also predicts the emergence of such experiences and envisions them becoming a trend in the coming years, fueling the growth of the interactive movie industry.

Apple’s metaverse fear

The company and its executives were hesitant to call the various virtual experiences currently known as the metaverse, metaverse. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, believes the term is too ambiguous and can be interpreted in many ways.

Cook told the Bright publication:

I always think it’s important that people understand what something is. And I’m really not sure the average person can tell you what the metaverse is.

Cook, on the other hand, is a big believer in AR and what it could bring to users of the technology, describing it as “a profound technology that will impact everything.”
