1,500 Dearborn Children Receive Free Books – Press and Guide

About a month after a new program was announced to give books to children in Dearborn, the first 1,500 were distributed.

In late September, Mayor Abdullah Hammoud announced a new partnership with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the Amity Foundation to provide free books to all Dearborn children from birth to age 5. In the weeks since that announcement, about 2,000 children have registered for the program, and about 1,500 of them had already delivered their first books.

Hammoud said he started working on this project about four years ago when he was still a state representative.
