Four named academic All-District – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – Four members of the Ohio State women’s soccer team have earned CSC Academic All-District Honors. Maddy Lowe, Emaly Vatne, Kine Flotre and Kailyn Dudukovich all earned the award for the first time.

To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or major reserve with at least a cumulative grade of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. The student-athlete must also have completed a full calendar year at her current institution and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Lowe, who is in her sixth year with the program, is in the kinesiology graduate program. Lowe, one of four captains this season, has scored two of her three career goals this fall. She scored the game-winner against Missouri in the second game of the season, then scored one of three Buckeye goals in a 3-0 victory over Big Ten Tournament champion Penn State. The Webster, NY native was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar last year and will likely be a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a six-time OSU Scholar-Athlete.

barrel, who serves as captain for a second consecutive season, is also in the kinesiology graduate program and is currently working with the Ohio State Human Performance Collaborative. Vatne is a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and will be named a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree later this year. The Sterling Heights, Michigan native has made 78 appearances over her five seasons with the program and has four goals to her credit.

float, a junior from Fjellhamar, Norway, is studying psychology. She played in all 19 games with 18 starts this season. She has two goals and a team-high tie of five assists for a career-high nine points. That led her to collect her first All-Conference honor when she was named third-team All-Big Ten. Her best game was a performance with three assists in the Buckeye’s 4–0 win at Indiana that tied the program’s single-game record. Flotre is a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete.

Dudukovich is a sophomore math student from Westchester, Ohio. She had an All-Big Ten freshman season and has followed that up with another solid season this year. Her seven goals match her total from last season, and she also added an assist. She scored her first career hat-trick with three goals against Maryland and also scored three game-winning goals this season. Dudukovich earned third-team All-Big Ten honors a year ago and was also an OSU Scholar-Athlete.

The Buckeyes defeated Bucknell 1-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament last Friday and will take on Arkansas in the second round this Friday in Fayetteville, Ark.
