Bayfront Health to Build Four-Story Cancer and Orthopedic Center in Downtown St. Pete — St. Pete Rising

“The Bayfront Health Medical Pavilion – Institute Square heralds a new era for our hospital and demonstrates our commitment to providing our community with comprehensive access to quality healthcare.” said John Moore, president of Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and senior vice president of Orlando Health West Region. “This new facility and the collaborations that will take place within the pavilion are examples of our commitment to becoming the premier destination for medical care in the Greater Tampa Bay area.”

Cancer care at the new facility will be provided by multiple oncology specialists and physicians who bring expertise in urogynecology, colorectal, thoracic, lung, head and neck, breast and skin cancer treatments.

Some of its medical services, including an ambulatory imaging center and diagnostic lab services, are similar to what the Moffitt Cancer Center planned to provide before the St. Pete expansion plan, part of a larger mixed-use development, was sunk in September by Mayor Ken Welch. Moffitt planned for his facility to also host clinical trials and research studies, medical oncology, hematologic oncology, radiation therapy, infusion and advanced imaging.
