LAS VEGAS – Shane Clanton deposited the $20,000 opening night of Duel in the Desert for the final models of the XR Super Series at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Clanton started on pole but gave way to Bobby Pierce at the front of the pack on lap eight and Pierce dominated the 40-lap event until he slowed down with a flat right rear tire with just three laps left.

Clanton, who was making his first start at the Las Vegas track, held off Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion Tim McCreadie for the win.

Jonathan Davenport finished third, with Tanner English and Brandon Overton completing the top five.

English was the quick qualifier for the 42-car field with a lap of 17.042 seconds on the four tenths of a mile track.

Cody Thompson won the modified main event, Shelby Williams led the stock car feature, and Logan Veloz was the ace of sports fashion.
