The Likes and Dislikes of Iowa Basketball’s 89-58 Win Over Bethune-Cookman

Iowa basketball scored its first win of the season Monday night when the Hawkeyes defeated Bethune-Cookman 89-58 inside the Carver-Hawkeye Arena to improve to 1-0 in the youth season.

All five starters scored double digits for the Hawkeyes as Tony Perkins led with 16, Kris Murray followed with 14, Payton Sandfort was 13, Patrick McCaffery was 12, and Filip Rebraca with 11 points, along with 10 rebounds, for Iowa in the win.

Iowa hit 33 percent of three but hit 7 of 14 away in the first half as he struggled to drop hard in the second half. Iowa hit 51 percent of the field while also scoring 23 points on 16 forced turnovers.

Iowa also made a point of exiting the transition, as the Hawkeyes had 33 points of counterattack in the win.
